greenspan floortime approach & facilitating Play
What is floortime?
The purpose of Floortime is to enhance and support the social and emotional development of a child. Dr. Stanley Greenspan developed Floortime to build upon each individual child’s strengths and gifts through
interaction and creating relationships. Floortime can happen in the home, clinical setting, or in the classroom
setting and three essential factors must occur: the caregiver or educator must follow the child’s lead, the child needs to be challenged to play spontaneous, and the interaction between the adult and child should include various senses, gross and fine motor skills, and emotions. I listed links and videos below for viewing to further define Floortime from Dr. Stanley Greenspan, implementing Floortime, and informational websites.
